As a family photographer I’m lucky enough to travel all over Sussex meeting children and families. Here’s one of my favourite shoots taken close to Ditchling.
The majority of my family photo shoots start at the family home. Once I’ve arrived and introduced myself I’ll have a quick look around to find the best locations for your shoot. You might have some great spots in your garden or we might go for a little wander nearby. As well as backgrounds I’ll be looking for the best light – this can change so much depending on the weather but it makes such a difference to pictures. If I’d have photographed this family at midday the light in the fields would have been so harsh and would have cast unflattering shadows. Luckily we were able to book this shoot for early evening (in the Summer) – it meant that the boys were a bit later to bed than usual but I’d say it was worth it – wouldn’t you?
We started the shoot in the garden where it was easy to include the family dogs (and chickens!) before walking to a nearby cornfield. We finished up in the meadow where the family had a teepee (more of that later!)
I thought the cornfield part of this shoot would be ideal for my new Signature frame so I’ve mocked one up – what do you think?
If you are looking for a family photographer in the Ditchling area do get in touch, I’d love to hear from you. You can find more information and images on my family photography page.
