About Alex

My name is Alex Rickard and I’ve been running my professional photography business for over 12 years. I work mainly in Sussex and enjoy making the most of the beautiful countryside surrounding us.

I worked as a Picture Editor on newspapers and magazines for many years and that’s where my passion and ‘eye’ for photography began.  After having my children (now in their late teens!) I really began to learn the technicalities of photography and after sharing my images online I was encouraged by friends to pursue my photography dreams.  I can honestly say I’ve never looked back!

I have a passion for learning (you could call me a workshop junkie!) and enjoy developing my skills as much as I can.  I’m currently focusing more on studio lighting and have built a cabin in my garden (my little piece of heaven) where I spend a lot of my time.

Over the past few years I’ve expanded my business to include more commercial shoots – headshots, personal branding, school marketing photography and events but my love for photographing children and families remains.

I adore teaching photography skills to children and teenagers especially to those that find school a little challenging and it believe it does wonder’s for their mental health.
