Family photoshoots in the bluebells are always a favourite of mine. We chose the Ardingly bluebell woods very close to where I live for the shoot location. This family purchased a family photoshoot voucher after meeting me at a school fair. We were lucky enough to choose a beautiful spring day for the actual shoot. Bluebell opening times are hard to predict but we’ll pencil a date in the diary and keep and eye on their progress. I’ll always suggest we arrive at our shoot location as early as possible on shoot day to make the most of the soft (and more flattering!) light.
This family wanted to bring their Golden Retriever Lottie along to the shoot too. Isn’t she gorgeous? As a dog lover myself I always encourage you to include dogs on your shoots – they always make a welcome addition.
Lottie might have been the star of the show! She certainly provided plenty of entertainment on the shoot. She enjoyed jumping over fallen logs in the woods, being taken for a walk and sitting with the family for pictures.
I love the gentle backlight behind the family in these pictures. Definitely a bonus of an early morning start!
We finished our shoot by heading to the disused railway line nearby which provided a different backdrop for some more family pictures. I think we’d worn Lottie out!
