Brighton holds a special place in my heart, not just because it’s a fantastic city, but it’s a great location for photography and one of my favourite places to run my Children’s Photography Courses which I’ve been running since 2019. I teach children and teenagers aged 10 and upwards and take a maximum of six on each course, allowing me to focus on each child.
We typically kick off our adventures from India Gate, walking around The Royal Pavilion and Gardens which provide a wide range of photographic opportunities. We then head down to the seafront photographing the West Pier and the Palace Pier (the children usually love the ‘Afloat’ sculpture on the East Street Groyne) before heading back through The Lanes.

“Alex has been amazing from the point of enquiry to the ‘Introduction to Photography Course’ itself. Alex was happy to answer all of my questions via email and phone calls and was always very quick to respond to me. She sent me a lovely voucher to give my son for his birthday in a beautifully presented gift box.
The actual course was brilliant for my 11-year-old son, he was buzzing afterwards and was excited to tell us all about what he had learned. The pictures he took are really impressive and I can see the progression he has made just from the 3 hours with Alex guiding him. My son found the course really enjoyable and is keen to do more. We will definitely be booking him on to another course with Alex, she really put him at ease and gave him the confidence to photograph different things, not just nature, which he is most comfortable with. If you are looking for someone to help your child learn more about photography in a fun and relaxed way then I would very much recommend Alex and her Brighton Photography Courses, she’s great!”
Images taken by children during the photography course
A big thank you to Lotta and Rueben (aged 10 and 11) for allowing me to share their photographs in the gallery below. These images show great examples of some of the techniques learnt during the three-hour Introduction to Photography Course, such as capturing reflections (great puddles!), framing techniques and the use of the rule of thirds.
