NEWBORN & BABY

Welcome!

Congratulations!  You may have a newborn baby or one on the way, thank you for visiting my newborn and baby photography page.  I’m Alex, a portrait photographer based near Haywards Heath, West Sussex and I’ve been photographing babies, children and families all over Sussex for over 10 years.  I know you’ll have questions about your newborn shoot – I hope this page will help you decide if I’m the photographer for you.

My Style

My style is very relaxed and natural – I like to take a baby-led approach.  I prefer not to use fancy props and don’t do complicated posing; instead I like to document your family just as you are.

As a parent to two children I still (just about) remember those first few chaotic weeks and will do everything I can to make your shoot as relaxed as possible.  I understand that baies don’t always work to a schedule and you won’t be on a time limit – I can work around feeding and changing times

LOCATION

I love to capture your new family in ‘real-life’ situations in your own home – you’ll be able to look back at those early days and remember them just as they were.  We can venture outside too especially with older babies – maybe heading to a local park or the countryside near your home.

I’m based in Ardingly, near Haywards Heath in West Sussex and most of my shoots take place within a 10-15 mile radius.  I’m happy to travel further afield; such shoots may require an additional charge to cover travel time and expenses.

WHAT AGE?

Traditionally newborn babies are photographed within their first two weeks.  This is because they are still quite curled up, very flexible and generally still very sleepy.  It’s a great age to catpure the little details – tiny toes and curled up fingers.  I don’t photograph babies curled up or posed and for this reason we are not restricted on what age to photograph your baby.  As your baby gets older there’ll be different opportunties – we’ll capture the more expressive faces and first smiles and interactions which are not possible with tiny newborns.
