I run my photography course for Children and Teenagers at one of my favourite locations, Borde Hill Garden, Haywards Heath.
The first course is the Introductory to Photography Course which is not too technical. Most of what I teach will be relevant to you taking photos on either your phone or camera. I cover colour, composition and a little on camera settings. The course is practical providing several opportunities for the students to take pictures as we wander around the gardens.
What you’ll need:
- A camera! Doesn’t have to the be the best camera ever – most digital cameras with changeable settings (mode dial) would work.
- A charged battery and memory card.
- Camera manual if you have it – just in case!
- A drink and snack
- A bag to keep everything in as we walk round (I’ll give you an A4 booklet to carry too)
- Comfy shoes
The course is £50 for each child and includes the entrance to Borde Hill (Child entry from the ages of 3-16 is currently £6.35).
I’ll be running a more technical follow up course at a later date which will go into much more detail on camera settings and how to really get the best our of your camera.

My daughter Ana attended the Teen Photography Course yesterday. Ana absolutely loved the session and didn’t stop talking about it all day. Not only was it fun and engaging, but Ana feels she has learnt a huge amount and is looking forward to the next course. I can’t thank Alex enough for being so lovely with the kids and for fuelling my daughter’s photography passion
