I’m a huge fan of The Fresh Fish Shop in Haywards Heath, (West Sussex) and jumped at the chance when they asked me to do some food photography for them. I’d previously photographed a lot of fish at the Eden Project in Cornwall (some of which are in my Food Photography Gallery) so I knew how photogenic fish could be. The Fresh Fish Shop loved the style of the previous fish pictures I had taken and my use of props and backgrounds.
This commision was at the beginning of the Covid-19 Lockdown in May 2020 so I decided it would be best to photograph all the images at home. I enjoyed sourcing backgrounds without venturing far from my house and after putting a shout-out on Facebook I managed to pick up some slate and floor tiles from friends locally in Ardingly. My neighbour was dismantling her shed so kindly gave me the blue door which made a great wooden background (you can see it in the oyster image above!).
Here’s a selection of images from Days One and Two. I cropped the images in a square for the catalogue and instagram and thought they worked well as montages. I’ll post day 3 very soon. A lot of you are asking if I got to eat the fish, I’m delighted to say I did and it was absolutely delicious!
It’s always great to receive feedback for my work and I love this reccomendation for my Food Photography from The Fresh Fish Shop, Haywards Heath . . . .

Please get in touch if you have any Food Photography requirements, as always, I’d love to hear from you!
